Accelerometer Applications

Accelerometer Applications ADAPTER FOR EMANT380

The Accelerometer Applications Adapter connects the Free scale MMA7260QT, ±1.5g - 6g Three Axis Low-g Micro machined Accelerometer to the EMANT380 Bluetooth DAQ module.

                            FEATURES

                 .Selectable Sensitivity (1.5g/2g/4g/6g)

.High Sensitivity (800 mV/g @ 1.5g)

.Typical Applications

.Pedometer: Motion Sensing

.Inclinometer

.Navigation: Pitch and Roll Demonstration

.Gaming: Tilt and Motion Sensing

Accelerometer applications are treated as a "black box" with little regard to the internal structure or function. The wide spread integration of built-in ICP sensor power into most modern day dynamic data acquisition systems often places two wire, constant current signal conditioning in this "black box" domain as well. As a result, many users have requested more information on the structure and performance of dynamic sensors.

Accelerometer applications serve to measure motion or vibration by converting physical movement into an electrical signal suitable for measurement, recording, analysis and/or control. To do its job, the ideal behavior of an accelerometer is actually very simple - straigjt lines! This means that the accelerometer exhibits a flat amplitude sensitivity and phase response with respect to frequency, and straight-line amplitude linearity.
Accelerometer  Applications objectives

What can I do with an accelerometer application?

 Why consider an accelerometer application?

• Product technology overview
• Performance requirements for various accelerometer applications
• Accelerometer application  from the Point of View of Signal
Conditioning and Data Acquisition
– Inertial
– Vibration
– Tilt

accelerometer applications?

– Acceleration application single integrated for velocity
– Acceleration application double integrated for position
– Measuring vibration for machine health
– Motion and shock detection
– Tilt and inclination

Position in 2 and 3 dimensional space
– Can only be done with accelerometers application that have DC response
Inertial measurement of velocity and position
– Acceleration application single integrated for velocity
– Acceleration application double integrated for position
 Vibration and shock measurement
– Measuring vibration for machine health
– Motion and shock detection
Measurement of gravity to determine orientation
– Tilt and inclination
– Position in 2 and 3 dimensional space
– Can only be done with accelerometers application
Why should I consider
using an accelerometer application?
• A variety of new devices and technologies are on
the market
• Prices have gone down dramatically
• Cost/Performance ratio is improving.
